Marcy Wasserman - Paintings
As a native of NYC, I find images of buildings recurring, consciously and unconsciously, in my paintings. Often they appear as simple "monopoly" style houses or integrated into cityscapes. At times, these paintings are abstract; at other times, they are landscape. They are always about color, surface, and movement. Many of the paintings are small in size and are intended to be shown grouped together to form a mosaic.
My paintings are based on the idea and structure of "House". "House" is safety, love, family, birth, death, and rebirth. It is life! My art is reminiscent of children's art, through which I transport the viewer to a time when joyous artistic expression was uncensored. My paintings are poetry recited through rich color and surface.
